SUPPORTING ALAMON OPERATIONS
Finance & Accounting (F&A) partners with Operations to help make their lives easier and support them with tools to better manage their businesses. The F&A team strives to be an innovative group, and provides a wide variety of useful information and analysis tailored to fit each group’s specific needs and help facilitate success.
Some of the ways Finance & Accounting supports operations:
Timely, Transparrent and Decision-Useful Financial Information
- Weekly financial reports that allow managers and supervisors to have insight into project performance
- Department-specific financial reports that are tailored to their business
- Monthly financial reporting packages
Adequate Capital
F&A works with banks and other financial counterparties to ensure divisions have adequate capital to scale and pursue small and large projects.
Bid and Project Analysis
F&A helps perform bid and project analysis to find ways to improve accuracy, efficiency and profitability.
Tools for Success
F&A continually looks for tools that will help operations be more successful. Two new initiatives that were rolled out this year were:
- Ramp – Corporate Credit Card platform that offers numerous benefits compared to our legacy platform including automated receipt capture, improved controls & compliance, and greater transparency into spend/coding.
- Power BI – Data visualization tool to augment our weekly project reporting. Reporting provides departments with current and historical project performance on-demand via an internet browser or mobile app. Currently evaluating multiple avenues to expand on the utilization of the tool.
Payroll
Support for the business in the method that allows Alamon to be most successful and competitive. This includes:
- Processing payroll on a weekly basis
- Supporting multiple methods of compensation (ie. prevailing wage, unit pay)
- Staying current and in compliance to ensure Alamon can go to any state where there is work to be done
Tracking and Forecasting
F&A assists with tracking and development of forecasts and budgets for all divisions, providing monthly snapshots of financial performance and highlighting key metrics of interest.
Other Initiatives
In the works now: improving sales tax compliance and AP process improvements (including workflow approval process and moving to electronic payments versus checks).
Ad Hoc Requests
The F&A team is generally available for any ad hoc reporting, financial, performance, and other requests.
Alamon’s newly adopted, modern Ramp corporate credit card platform features automated receipt capture, improved controls & compliance and more. The platform provides greater efficiency and transparency into spend/coding than the previous legacy system.
The Finance & Accounting team introduced Alamon to Power BI, a data visualization tool to enhance weekly project reporting.
Unit Pay is one of the payroll methods the Finance & Accounting team supports, in an effort to create the best opportunity for each operations team to be competitive and successful.
